"Why doesn't Klaus wear glasses in the movie? God, this movie sucks!"
Liam Aiken was perfectly casted as Klaus, and he did wear glasses in a scene or two. But whether the character wears glasses or not, Liam still portayed Klaus as a very bookish, sophisticated 12-year-old orphan, with and without glasses. This movie couldn't suck just because Klaus almost never wore glasses.. those people just want to have something to complain about.
Ahh.. sorry if this doesn't make sense.. It's just something that's been bothering me for quite a while since I've been reading some ASOUE forums on IMDB.

I know. For the people that keep whining about his abscence of glasses...how the hell has that altered his performance in any way? Basically, when you come to the conclusion that all nerds and bookworms wear glasses, you're being stereotypical. I think Liam's portrayal of Klaus was excellent.
Also, for the people out there that go "Omg, aSoUE is such a cheap copy off Harry Potter. It sucks." Go fuck yourselves. In what way does the movie remotely resemble Harry Potter? Obviously you've not seen one of the two, or both, because clearly you have no idea what you're blathering about.

Exactly, I don't get how Harry Potter and ASOUE are anything alike. Just because Klaus seemingly LOOKS like Harry Potter because of the glasses. That doesn't really prove anything. There's no "magic" in ASOUE and it's more realistic anyway. Nothing against Harry Potter, I still love it, but still, there's no resemblance, so people who think so should just shut up.

*dont hurt me* I think Harry Potter is quite like ASOUE..I mean, not the STORY LINE, but some things about the both of them. Like The Adoption Agency person is The guy who plays Peter Pettigrew in PoA, and Uncle Monty is John Cleese who plays Neerly Headless Nick. In HP there are 3 people. (main people) In ASOUE there are 3 main people. There are orphans whos parents got killed by a bad person in both..The people they all go live with treat them badly..etc. but like i said, its not the STORY LINE its just little coiensidences(sp). ANYWAYS BACK TO THE SUBJECT.
Idc if Klaus didnt have glasses the whole movie. He was still hawt as hell. *gets mature* Okay, but seriously, he HAD the glasses on for a couple of scenes..Indentating (wow big word) that he DID wear glasses. Maybe in the movie they were READING glasses *little light turns on* And I heard (i think it was on these boards?) That Liam wore the glasses but then they started hurting his eyes so he couldnt wear them anymore? Dunno. BUT ITS NOT HIS FAULT.
Okay, im done. (Im not yelling at anyone here. lol im just hyper. xD)

Basically, when you come to the conclusion that all nerds and bookworms wear glasses, you're being stereotypical. Hey! I have glasses! I may be freakishly smart (lol, not) but I am not a nerd. I am in solid, firm denial. I'm one of the people who thought that he should wear his glasses *ducks* but only because in one of the books (can't remember) he uses them for something, some sort of invention. And if they continue with the movies it might be important. But also because he's just so damn hot in glasses!

Haha, it's okay. I meant that the people who wanted him to wear glasses thought it sucked because he didn't. It's okay if you just wanted him to wear glasses. XDD

no, no, it's ok to say that you wanted him to wear glasses. Or if you make some resemblances between HP and ASOUE...but when you say ASOUE sucks and is a complete knock off from Harry Potter...well...get ready for angry mobs

SOUE is COMPLETELY different from Harry Potter. The style of the stories are completely different. If anyone says SOUE is a rip off of HP becaus eof Klaus' glasses, HELLO!!! A LOT of people have glasses, including me. Do I look like Harry Potter? DO I?!
*the answer is no*

It's funny you mention that. I've liked Harry Potter longer than aSoUE, yes. :/ BUT, that's not saying I don't like aSoUE. I love it in fact.
But when I first saw the cover of the Bad Beginning, I REFUSED to read it. I saw Klaus and thought it was ripping off of Harry Potter. That was 3 years ago. Only this last year did I start aSoUE. Now I'm obsessed. Gotta love it.
My friend who read the series was like "Morgan..read the damn books." "Why? They're a rip off of HP." "NO they aren't. Wth. READ THEM." And I did. Thank thy lord.
I learned a lesson. Don't judge a book by it's cover.
Liam as Klaus..good. Excellent even. I thought he was a bit more angsty than the book character, but he still did an amazing job. Love it.
The glasses..well I would've like to have seen Klaus as Klaus is. With glasses. But I don't think it really affected the story. For now anyhows. If they plan on continuing, someone needs to scratch Klaus' eyes and make him near blind or something because in the Miserable Mill, his glasses play a HUGE part. HUGE!

Haha, I received the first two books as a present 2 years ago. I was a little scared of the TBB cover for some reason, maybe I thought Count Olaf was some kind of monster (he was) or some evil warlock or something. XDD But I never thought of it to be a knock-off of HP. Hmm.. shows how blind I am..

Yea..I never wanted to read the either. I didn't even wanna go see the movie but my friends are like "We are gonna go see it." And I'm like "Fine i'll go" So i went and i was like OMFG THAT WAS GREAT! I NEED TO READ THE BOOKS! lol I always thought it was another book to try and make HP look bad or something..Like someone trying to get their books more popular than HP and im a HP freak so I was like "Nope..Not reading 'em" But Now eff that idea. lmao. Im reading them.
